The Business Valuation team at MMB can provide you with two different types of reports, based on your needs.
A Valuation Engagement (Conclusion of Value) is conducted for estate or gift tax purposes, business succession planning and buy/sell agreements, such as professional practices and partner admission and/or withdrawal to name a few. Several valuation methods may be used, depending on the nature, complexity and industry of the project. This is the preferred format of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
A Calculation Engagement (Calculation of Value) is often used in succession planning, stock options, buy/sell agreements, for the purchase or sale of a business or business interest, and litigation support, among others.
Both types of engagements include reports that provide an understanding of the data, reasoning and analysis underlying the findings. In other words, everything you need to know about how and why we reached that specific valuation.
Calculation Engagement does not contain the same level of detail as a Valuation Engagement, and is typically used for internal use and mergers and acquisitions.
So which type of engagement is right for you? The kind you complete with the Business Valuation team at MMB.
